What Could Possibly Go Wrong? – A Skit on a Wedding Reception
“What Could Possibly Go Wrong? – A Skit on a Wedding Reception” is a three act play written for amateur theatre, local theatre or retirement village productions. It has ten speaking parts and three non-speaking parts and at least one, ideally two, placard carriers to promote audience participation.
The production is ideal for a theatre-restaurant setting with acts between the serving of the meal. It is not demanding of actors because just as is for a regular wedding reception most of the script is delivered as speeches.
It was written to coincide with the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, although in no way does it attempt to mimic that wedding. All that is borrowed from the Royal wedding is the first name of the bride and the groom.
It is a comedy in which just about everything that could go wrong at a wedding did go wrong and there is an amusing twist in the tale ending. It is a rollicking, fast paced, humorous narrative and with ramped up audience participation provides a great night that can if you are not careful become quite a wild party.
